Verstappen on the Brink of Glory as F1 Hits Las Vegas
This weekend, the excitement of Formula 1 descends upon Las Vegas for the second edition of its thrilling street race on the iconic Strip. With only three race weekends remaining this season, the stakes couldn’t be higher as drivers and teams battle for supremacy in both the drivers’ and constructors’ championships.
Max Verstappen, the reigning champion, finds himself in a prime position to clinch yet another title. With 86 points available in the next three races, the Dutch driver can secure his championship by winning the Las Vegas Grand Prix outright.
However, he also has several scenarios that could see him crowned champion even if he doesn’t finish first. If Verstappen finishes ahead of his closest competitor, Lando Norris, he guarantees himself the title. Additionally, if Norris finishes second or third, Verstappen could still win the championship by finishing directly behind him while also securing the fastest lap.
Verstappen’s title scenarios are as follows:
– If he finishes ahead of Norris.
– If Norris is second or third and Verstappen finishes right behind him with the fastest lap.
– If Norris finishes fourth to eighth and Verstappen is right behind him.
– If Norris finishes ninth, tenth, or fails to score points.
As the championship battle heats up, the constructors’ championship is equally fierce. McLaren currently leads Ferrari by 36 points, but the Scuderia is enjoying a resurgence thanks to recent upgrades that addressed issues with their SF-24 car.
The last American triple-header saw both Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz secure wins, allowing Ferrari to close the gap on McLaren and keep the pressure on.
Fans are eagerly anticipating the race weekend, with a full schedule of events lined up. The action kicks off on Friday, November 22, with two practice sessions. Saturday will see the third practice and qualifying rounds, culminating in the main event on Sunday, November 24.
