WAFU Zone B U-17: Hosts Ghana eliminated by Burkina Faso

The Black Starlets of Ghana were knocked out of the ongojng WAFU Zone B U-17 championships after losing 1-0 to neighbours Burkina Faso on Tuesday at the Cape Coast Stadium.

Ousmane Camara’s late penalty was enough to give the Young Stallions victory, and will now face Nigeria in the final on Friday. 

The loss also means the Black Starlets will not be represented at the 2023 Africa U-17 Cup of Nations tournament in Algeria to be staged in Algeria nexy years with the competition also serving as a qualifier for the FIFA U-17 World Cup.

Burkina Faso and Nigeria will now represent the WAFU Zone B at next year’s youth championship in Algeria.

The Black Starlets Ghana have now failed to qualify for the U-17 AFCON for the second time in a row, after failing in 2019.
