“When we brought down Nyantakyi, we brought down Ghana football” – Speaker of Parliament
Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has lamented the loss of Kwesi Nyantakyi from the football fraternity.
Eulogizing the global stature of the former FA chief, Mr. Bagbin believes it will take time for the country to return to the summit of world football after the former GFA President’s departure.
Speaking at the swearing-in of newly elected executives of the Parliamentary Press Corps, Mr.Bagbin says bringing Nyantakyi down has caused Ghana football more harm than good.

“He was one of the brightest spots at FIFA, he was a dynamic addition, he was highly respected and very influential.”
“When we brought down Kwesi Nyantakyi, we also brought down Ghana football.
“We thought we were handling Nyantakyi but we didn’t know we were handling the whole of Ghana”, he said.
Nyantakyi is serving a 15-year ban after the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) overturned FIFA’s decision to hand him a life-time ban for breaking bribery and corruption rules.
Under his stewardship Ghana reached their first of three straight World Cups and also began a streak of 6 straight semi final appearances at the AFCON which ended in 2019.
