Egypt’s ongoing cooperation portfolio with the World Bank (WB) amounts to $5.4 billion, according to a Ministry of International Cooperation press statement issued on the 20th of June.
The WB portfolio includes projects covering transportation, education, housing, health, social safety nets, and small and medium-sized enterprises.
The statement followed Minister of International Cooperation Rania al Mashat’s meeting with the WB’s Country Director for Egypt, Yemen, and Djibouti Marina Wes.
During the meeting, both parties discussed the future areas of cooperation and the ongoing portfolio of projects. The meeting also addressed the current negotiations within the framework of the development policies financing and the second phase of the structural reforms that the Government of Egypt is implementing.
In 2020, the WB’s development financing agreements signed across different sectors amounted to $1.5 billion.
