BetPawa to Invest GH¢7 Million in Ghana’s Football Over Five Years

BetPawa, an online gaming company, plans to invest GH¢7 million in Ghana’s men’s and women’s football competitions. Managing director Ntoudi Mouyelo announced this at a press conference on November 5, 2024. This significant investment reflects BetPawa’s commitment to enhancing the local football landscape and supporting athletes in both leagues.

The investment will fund the locker room bonus program, which rewards players in the Ghana Premier League and Women’s FA Cup. Last season, GH¢600,000 was distributed to 4,000 players, and this amount increased to GH¢1.3 million for 3,000 players in the following season.

This increase demonstrates the growing recognition of the importance of incentivizing player performance and fostering competitive spirit in the league.

For the current season, the program will also include bonuses for three coaching staff members from each team per match. This initiative aims to strengthen the support system around the players, acknowledging that coaching staff play a crucial role in their development and success on the field. By involving coaches in the bonus scheme, BetPawa is promoting teamwork and collaboration within clubs.

Mouyelo expects to pay at least 3,500 players, totaling GH¢1.4 million, and aims for a total of GH¢7 million over five years. The locker room bonus encourages players to win matches by providing financial rewards, creating an added incentive for teams to perform at their best. This investment not only benefits the players but also aims to elevate the overall quality of football in Ghana.

As the program continues to evolve, there is hope that it will lead to greater visibility and support for women’s football in Ghana. With increased investment and attention, the Women’s FA Cup can gain traction and recognition, paving the way for future growth in women’s sports.
