GSE capitalisation increases by Ghs 271 million over registered price gains in StanChart, FanMilk shares

Market capitalisation of the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), increased by Ghs 271 million on Wednesday to close trading at Ghs 63.99 billion, representing a year-to-date (YTD) growth of 17.70% in 2021.

This was on the back of registered gains in share prices of Standard Chartered Bank and FanMilk Plc.

Standard Chartered Bank and FanMilk both gained GH¢1.85 pesewas and GH¢0.19 pesewas respectively. Standard Chartered ended Wednesday’s trading session with a closing price of Ghs 20.35 pesewas from an opening price of Ghs 18.50.

FanMilk begun trading session with an opening price of Ghs 2.74 pesewas to close at Ghs 2.93 pesewas on the back of the 19 pesewas gain on the stock market.

A total of 69,233 shares valued at GH¢113,280.68 exchanged hands in thirteen (13) equities compared to 363,858 shares valued at GH¢499,340.10 which was traded on Tuesday.

FanMilk recorded the highest trade by value as it accounted for 31.08% of the total value traded.

Also, at the close of trading on Wednesday, the benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) gained 25.93 points to close trading at 2,838.69 translating into a YTD return of 46.20%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also improved by 43.26 points; which is the highest daily point gain, to close at 2,052.23, which also translates into a YTD return of 15.12%.
