GPL Matchweek 12 Wrap: Kotoko win to go top, Hearts mine the Gold Stars

Kumasi Asante Kotoko moved back to the apex of the Ghana Premier League with a 3-1 win over AshantiGold on Sunday afternoon at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

An impressive hat-trick from Cameroonian Mbella Etouga ensured the Porcupine Warriors secured all three points with three goals to go three points clear of second-placed King Faisal.

King Faisal before the matchweek were top of the table tied on points with Kotoko but gave that away when they lost 2-0 to Eleven Wonders at the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman.

A brace from Laar Ibrahim’s brace gunned down the Insha Allah boys, increasing their hopes of survival in the Ghana Premier League after poor start to life this season.

Accra Hearts of Oak went mining at the Dun’s Park in Bibiani and secured an important 1-0 win with Sewornu’s first half strike enough as they returned home with Gold Stars.

The win sees Hearts move up to 7th on the league log with 17 points, also with two outstanding matches.
