Agric Ministry Bans Export of Rice, Maize, and Soyabean
The Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), has announced the immediate ban on the exportation of key grains such as rice, maize, and soybean.
The ban on the aforementioned grains according to the Ministry in a statement dated November 26, 2024, is a measure taken in response to critical supply challenges in the domestic market.
Further asserting that the measure is intended to “ensure food security within the country.”
The statement addressed to the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), urged the Customs Division to comply with the directive.
“We kindly request the Customs Division to take the necessary steps to enforce this ban at all export points across the country.
“Furthermore, we seek your cooperation in disseminating this information to relevant border posts and ensuring exporters’ compliance,” read parts of the statement.
“The Ministry appreciates your commitment to safeguarding Ghana’s food security and your collaboration in implementing this directive,” the statement added.
