- AngloGold Ashanti Says Queiroz Refinery Gold Was Not Sourced From DRC or Adjoining Countries
AngloGold Ashanti plc has filed its Specialized Disclosure Report on Form SD with the United States Securities and Exchange Commission, in line with its reporting obligations under the SEC’s conflict minerals rule.
The company announced that the filing was made on May 27, 2026, covering its conflict minerals disclosure obligations for the 2025 reporting year.
According to AngloGold Ashanti, it conducted a reasonable country-of-origin determination as set out in the Form SD and concluded in good faith that no gold or gold-bearing material used in the manufacturing process at its Queiroz Refinery, part of the Queiroz Plant in Brazil, was sourced from the Democratic Republic of the Congo or its adjoining countries during 2025.
The company said the Form SD also summarises its conformance with the requirements of the World Gold Council’s Conflict-Free Gold Standard for the year ended December 31, 2025.
The disclosure is significant because conflict minerals reporting has become an important part of global investor scrutiny of mining and refining companies, particularly those with exposure to gold supply chains.
Under the SEC framework, companies that use certain minerals, including gold, are required to undertake due diligence on whether those minerals may have originated from conflict-affected areas, especially the DRC and neighbouring countries.
For gold producers and refiners, such disclosures are increasingly tied to broader environmental, social and governance expectations, supply-chain traceability and responsible sourcing commitments.
AngloGold Ashanti advised shareholders that the Form SD can be accessed on the SEC’s website and on the company’s own website.
The filing adds to the company’s continuing regulatory disclosures across its major listings, including the New York Stock Exchange and Johannesburg Stock Exchange.
For investors, the update provides assurance that AngloGold Ashanti’s 2025 gold-bearing material used at the Queiroz Refinery was not sourced from the DRC or adjoining countries, based on the company’s reasonable country-of-origin determination.
The disclosure also reinforces the growing importance of responsible minerals reporting at a time when gold supply chains face closer regulatory, investor and civil society scrutiny globally.
