Ghana Premier League: Mawuli Wayo’s Goal Secures Win for Accra Hearts of Oak Against Vision FC
Accra Hearts of Oak claimed a 1-0 victory over Vision F.C. on Friday thanks to a second-half goal from Mawuli Wayo at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium. This win marked Hearts’ second consecutive victory, moving them up to fourth place in the league.
Coach Aboubakar Ouattara made two changes to his team, giving Michael Awuah his debut after Kelvin Osei Asibey’s suspension. Midfielder Ramzy Yussif also started in place of the suspended Hussein Mohammed. Vision F.C. made three changes as they aimed to bounce back from a heavy defeat last week.
The match started with Vision creating an early chance, but Issah Akukah, a former Hearts player, missed a good opportunity. Hearts responded with missed chances of their own, including a glaring miss by Kwabena Boateng.
The first half ended goalless, and Ouattara made tactical changes at halftime. Wayo scored just four minutes into the second half, tapping in a header from Awuah.
Despite a late push from Vision, Hearts’ defense held strong, and goalkeeper Benjamin Asare made crucial saves in the closing minutes to secure the win.
With this victory, Hearts now have 15 points, while Vision remains without a win in five matches, sitting at eleventh place with 11 points.
