GIPC launches third edition of Taste of Ghana
The Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) has launched the third edition of Taste of Ghana, which is purposed to showcase and celebrate Ghana’s unique culture in a flamboyant style.
The launch, which took place at the foyer of the Accra International Conference Center, served as the official outdooring for the main event dubbed ‘Taste of Ghana 3.0”, scheduled to take place on the 23rd and 24th of December 2022.
Under the theme “I rep Gh”, the festival will for the first time be a two day event which will feature various indigenous cultural elements such as music, poetry, theatrical performances, food, clothing, dance, etc, with an emphasis on the use of Ghanaian culture to create a truly Ghanaian experience.
In a welcome address, Mr Yofi Grant, the CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Center, was full of praise for the impact of the previous editions of the events and announced that this year’s edition will be a two day festival capped with some involvement of people from the Diaspora.
“The two days event will showcase Ghana in all its endeavours. The way we live, the things we do, the food we eat, the music we listen to, the clothes we wear and everything about our culture.
“It will be fused with our brothers from the Diaspora especially people from the Carribean State and so we will be craving their indulgence going forward.”
The Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mark Okraku Mantey acknowledged the plans of government in making tourism the number one contributor to Gross Domestic Product of which a few have been implemented and its relation to events like Taste of Ghana.
“As a country, the President Nana Akuffo Addo has done all he has to do to make sure Ghana becomes popular in terms of tourism by marketing us to the world.”
“Making Tourism the number one contributor to GDP cannot do without events like these. Everyone has a role to play and steps have been taken as a government to show that we are committed to developing the Tourism sector including the Arts and Culture.”
The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority lauded the initiative saying, “hopefully, a taste of Ghana as part of the December in Ghana activations will showcase what we are made of.”
Present at the launch was the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, CEO of Ghana Exports Promotion Authority, CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Center, the CEO of the Ghana Tourism Board and a number of dignitaries.
While the event’s goal is to highlight the distinct and authentic traditional richness of made-in-Ghana products and display the country’s rich cultural heritage, it will also provide business and investment opportunities for Ghanaians, its Diaspora, and people from all walks of life in an informal setting.
The Taste of Ghana 3.0 is spearheaded by the GIPC in partnership with; the Ghana Tourism Authority, Ghana Export Promotion Authority, the Eximbank, Ghana Free Zones Authority, the Beyond the Return initiative, Ministry of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional integration and the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
