GSE: Benchmark index posts positive returns first time in 2022

GSE: Benchmark index posts positive returns first time in 2022

The benchmark GSE Composite Index (GSE-CI) closed in the green for the  first time in 2022 as it gained 23.68 points to close at 2,789.52 representing a YTD return of 0.01%.

The GSE Financial Stock Index (GSE-FSI) also gained 0.35 points to close trading at 2,154.03 also translating into a YTD return of  0.10%. 

Since the start of this year, the GSE-CI has recorded negative returns for investors, on Wednesday for instance, the GSE-CI posted a YTD return of -0.84% for traders.

Equities of Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) and Trust Bank Gambia Ltd. (TBL) appreciated in price by 1.83% and 2.70% to close at GH¢1.11 and GH¢0.38  respectively.

Therefore, market capitalization of the GSE improved by GH¢247.81 million to close at GH¢64.50 billion.

A total of 1,609,189 shares valued at GH¢1,916,233.16 were traded in nine (9) equities compared to 549,258 shares valued at GH¢588,622.16 which exchanged hands yesterday with Scancom PLC.(MTNGH) recording again the lion’s share of trades as it accounted for 90.7% of the total value traded.
