OSP appeals against High Court ruling on freeze of Sir John’s Estate
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), has appealed against the High Court ruling to dismiss an application of confirmation order for the freezing of the estate of late CEO of the Forestry Commission, Kwadwo Afriyie, alias Sir John.
In a press statement dated July 12, 2022, the OSP accused Her Ladyship Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe of “misapprehending and misdirecting herself” in the ruling of July 12, 2022.
According to the OSP, the ruling by Her Ladyship Justice Afia Serwaa Asare Botwe is in response to a confiscation order which is not the objective of the application for confirmation order.
The OSP asserts that its application for confirmation order is only to allow for investigation into the properties acquired by Sir John and not to confiscate it.
