Trading Volume Rises by 22.85% as Total Value Dips by 45.29% on GSE

The Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) Composite Index closed flat on Monday at 4,369.03 points, maintaining a robust Year-To-Date (YTD) gain of 39.58%. The GSE Financial Stock Index also remained unchanged at 2,215.22 points, holding a YTD increase of 16.49%.

Total market capitalization of the local bourse edged lower to GH¢99.50 billion, down by GH¢11.43 million from the previous day’s tally, reflecting limited price action. Trading volumes rose 22.85% to 148,923 shares, up from 121,224 shares in the prior session.

Despite this uptick in volume, total transaction value declined sharply by 45.29% to GH¢4.46 million from GH¢8.16 million.

New Gold (GLD) at the close of the trading session recorded a dip of GH¢3.94, closing at GH¢431.90 per share. MTN Ghana (MTNGH) led trading volumes with 125,607 shares exchanged at a total value of GH¢271,311.12.

Other frequently traded stocks included CAL, GLD, DASPHARMA, and SIC, although their volumes trailed MTNGH’s by a significant margin.
