Access Bank gains 22 pesewas in share price

Equity of Access Bank emerged the sole gainer on the Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE) as the stock of the bank increased by 22 pesewas in price.

This was out of a total of 14 equities that traded on the stock market on Thursday, June 30, 2022.

Access Bank commenced trading on the bourse on the last day of the month of June, with an opening price of GHS 2.29 but ended trading on the Exchange with a closing price of GHS 2.51.

Despite the recorded appreciation in stock price, stocks of Access Bank yesterday registered a negative year-to-date return of 20.32% on its share price for investors.

On the back of the share price gain in Access Bank, the GSE-FSI also gained 6.64 points to close trading at 2,176 points translating into a YTD return of 1.17%.

The benchmark GSE-CI also regained some grounds as it gained 3.31 points to close trading at 2,545 points representing a YTD return of -8.74% for investors.

Given the recorded increase in the indices of the stock exchange, market capitalisation of the GSE increased to GHS 64.84bn.

Meanwhile, a total  of 98,267 shares valued at GH¢152,136.40 was traded on the day. Compared with the previous GSE trading day (June 29), Thursday’s data shows a 98.23% decline in volume traded and 96.96% decline in  trade turnover.

Scancom PLC. (MTNGH) accounted for 86.98% of the  total value traded and recorded the largest volumes traded.
