- Phoenix Insurance strengthens Korle Bu Surgical Department with new ICT equipment
Phoenix Insurance Company Limited has donated 10 high-end computers and accessories valued at GH¢106,000 to the Surgical Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility commitment to supporting critical public institutions.
The donation comprises 10 high-end computers worth GH¢95,000 and accessories valued at GH¢11,000.
The presentation was made in response to an appeal from the Surgical Department of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, which had requested support to strengthen its administrative and operational capacity.
Presenting the items, the Managing Director of Phoenix Insurance Company Limited, Mr Henry Bukari, said the gesture reflected the company’s belief that the private sector has a responsibility to support institutions that deliver essential services to the public.
He noted that Korle Bu remains one of Ghana’s most important healthcare institutions, serving patients from across the country and beyond, and therefore deserves strong institutional support from corporate Ghana.
Mr Bukari was supported at the presentation by the company’s Chief Finance Officer, Business Development Manager and other senior executives.
The donation is expected to improve the department’s ICT capacity and support more efficient administrative work, record management and internal coordination within the Surgical Department.
Phoenix Insurance said the intervention forms part of its broader corporate social responsibility mandate, which focuses on contributing to national development through support for health, education and other socially impactful sectors.
Officials of the Surgical Department expressed appreciation to Phoenix Insurance for responding to the hospital’s appeal, describing the donation as timely and useful to the department’s work.
They said the computers and accessories would help improve day-to-day operations and enhance the department’s ability to deliver better service to patients and stakeholders.
The gesture adds to growing calls for increased private sector support for Ghana’s public health system, particularly in areas where modern equipment, technology and logistics are required to improve service delivery.
For Phoenix Insurance, the donation also reinforces its positioning as a corporate institution committed not only to insurance services, but also to social investment and community development.
