‘Protocol’ recruitment hindering Ghana’s economic equality – Senyo Hosi
Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Bulk Oil Distributors [CBOD], Senyo Hosi, has lamented over the discriminative nature in which opportunities are offered to the youth of the country.
According to Mr Hosi, the increasing rate of nepotism across the state and in security agencies has become a pain in the neck of the citizenry.
“Our government sector jobs from the Ministries to state-owned enterprises have now been overwhelmed by the term ‘Protocol’. You need to be well connected politically or socially to stand a good chance. We are replacing merit and hard work with privilege and political fanaticism,” he said.
Mr Hosi made the assertion speaking at the 2022 Constitution Day Public Lecture at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) Law School.
The event organised by the school in collaboration with One Ghana Movement was on the topic: “Avoiding the Impending Death of the 1992 Constitution.”

Speaking further on the recruitment process in the country, he expressed his utmost disappointment in the inequality of opportunities within the government agencies.
“We will soon have, if we already don’t, an NDC and NPP silent faction of security services. I have seen first-hand the party caucuses in our state-owned enterprises, regulatory bodies, and educational system,” he said on Friday, January 14, during his speech.
He therefore urged that a democracy that promotes meritocracy be prioritized in these areas to improve equality and accelerate development.
“I propose to you a new democracy, a consensual democracy and not an adversarial democracy. A democracy of a loser-wins-some and not a winner-takes-all; a democracy that makes politics a call and moment of service and not a career of total economic dependence; a democracy that promotes the strengthening of our institutions and reflects the inclusiveness of our people and professionals, a democracy that promotes meritocracy,” he stressed.
